return
to questions
Can I lacquer over
the decal without damaging it in any way?
Yes. Our decals do withhold their integrity when lacquered to a
surface with a water based lacquer. If you are unsure about our
vinyl material working with the lacquer you will be using, write
us an email and we would be glad to send you a sample of the vinyl
material that you could test and see if it holds up.

to questions
How long does it
take for the decals to be shipped and received?
Once you place your order it is placed into our production schdule.
Generally it takes 7 - 10 business days to process your decal order
and 3-4 business days before you receive them through standard shipping.
You can choose to recieve your decals via priority shipping if you
need them sooner. Larger quantity orders may take longer delivery
time. Also Ultimate Decals is closed on all major holidays and this
sometimes effects our shipping schedule.
return
to questions
Is the checkered background
on our website part of the decal?
No. We placed the checkered background behind our decal previews
in our online decal library so that you can visualize more clearly
where the decal will have "cutouts" in the vinyl. These
decals are diecut from vinyl material, NOT printed onto vinyl material.
The Checkered background represents the surface area that you will
be applying the decal too, the black area represents the actual
decal material.

return
to questions
How should I prepare the surface for the decal?
Please read these instructions all the way through before starting
your application. The surface must be clean, and free of all oils,
waxes and dirt. Use Windex or a comparable cleaner to clean the
glass. If you use RainX, try Formula 409 to remove it. On painted
surfaces wipe with a wax remover or alcohol if applying on freshly
waxed paint. These Decals come to you in three layers. The top layer
is called the Transfer Tape. It looks somewhat like regular masking
tape. The middle layer is the actual Decal. The bottom layer is
a Backing Paper treated with a release agent.
return
to questions
How do I
apply the decal?
We recommend first cleaning the surface
with a soap and water solution. Household dishwashing soap works
fine. Next you’ll need Denatured Alcohol to remove any residues.
Although you can install decals after cleaning the surface with
dishwashing soap we recommend using Denatured Alchohol because it
will completely clean the surface. It helps remove residues that
could be left from the soap/water solution. Denatured Alcohol can
be purchased at a local paint or hardware store. Always follow the
instructions on the label. If it will be used on a painted surface
make sure the instructions say it can be used for that purpose (or
fiberglass if it’s a boat) and test in an inconspicuous area.
You’ll want to dry the surface with a clean cloth or paper
towel before applying the decal.
The optimum temperature range for vinyl graphic adhesion is 60 -
80 degrees F. The air and surfaces should always be above 40 degrees
F. Very high humidity (above 90 percent) may effect the application
process. Also if possible try to work in a covered area this will
help keep debris from landing on your surface. This also helps shield
from wind.
For installation instructions please read our section on Decall
Installation Instructions

return
to questions
How should
I care for my decal?
In colder climates, decals on windows of vehicles can be damaged
by the scraping of frost or ice from the windows. Mild window cleaner
may be used to clean the windows without damage to the decal. On
painted surfaces of vehicles, care must be taken when waxing. Wax
will build up around the edges of the decal, and will need to be
removed. Use a soft cloth, and take your time, and be gentle. DO
NOT USE something such as a brush. It will only force the wax underneath
the edge of the decal, and the decal will begin to peel. Your Decal
will not be damaged by normal use of car wash products, or water.
Although the decals will withstand pressure washers, car washes,
these will reduce the life and appearance of your Decal. The decals
will not last forever, but will give you many years of enjoyment
if taken care of.
return
to questions
How do I
remove my decal?
On glass surfaces, with temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees,
a razor blade scraper can be used. Decals can be removed from painted
surfaces by using a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the decal to
the point to where it peels off easily. Heating the decal will not
cause the decal to completely detach from the surface, but will
loosen the adhesive to make it make easier to remove.
return
to questions
Can you
create a decal from my custom design?
In most cases, Yes. Please upload your graphic to our custom department
where we can review your artwork. We will then email you back a
quote for you custom decal. Please view our custom section at Custom
Artwork to upload your graphic.
return
to questions
Can I reuse
the graphic once I take it off?
No. Once the decal graphic is removed is it no longer reusable.
return
to questions
Can your
diecut decals be applied to T-Shirts, Fabric and Leather?
Although our decals have a very strong adhesive back and the vinyl
may adhere to a fabric surface, they will easily peel off. We do
not recommend using them for fabric or T-shirts, they may last a
day or so, but will not stay attached to the fabric especially if
these fabrics are machine washed etc. The decals really need to
be attached to a smooth hard surface.
